Area 1,023 sq km; 395 sq miles

The Manas Tiger Reserve, located adjacent to India’s World Heritage site, is the fourth largest park in Bhutan and covers an area of 1023 square kilometers (395 square miles). The Royal Manas National Park encompasses a protected area that extends from the lowland plains to the peaks, making it Bhutan’s oldest protected area. This park boasts extensive stretches of warm broad-leaved and subtropical forests and is home to more than 426 species of birds, including the Great Hornbill, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Beautiful Nuthatch, Grey Peacock Pheasant, Black Francolin, and Blyth’s Kingfisher.

In addition to its avian diversity, the Manas Tiger Reserve is also home to fifty-eight species of mammals, such as the Golden Langur, Capped Langur, Haspid Hare, Tiger, Clouded Leopard, Swamp Deer, Elephant, Asiatic Water Buffalo, Guar, and Rhino.
