Sherab Dorji
After completing his high school education, Sherab Dorji was selected to join the Bhutan Olympic Committee as a national archer. Representing Bhutan in numerous regional and international competitions, he traveled extensively and gained valuable exposure to diverse cultures across the globe.
During his time as an athlete, Sherab often spent his free days exploring Bhutan’s pristine wilderness with his cousin, Norbu. These experiences nurtured a deep appreciation for nature, eventually inspiring him to transition from sports to a career as a full-time birding guide.
He was among a select group of guides chosen to undergo intensive birdwatching training under the guidance of renowned American birder Tom Stephenson, co-author of The Warbler Guide.
Soft-spoken, patient, and easygoing, Sherab combines a warm personality with exceptional field expertise. His in-depth knowledge of Bhutan’s avifauna and years of guiding experience make him widely regarded as one of the country’s most senior and respected birding guides today.

The passion that drives us
As a dedicated bird-watching specialist in Bhutan, I blend a deep passion for nature with professional expertise to create truly memorable birding experiences. With years of guiding bird enthusiasts through the country’s pristine landscapes and extraordinary biodiversity, I take pride in showcasing Bhutan’s remarkable avian species.
My devotion to birding and wildlife stems from a lifelong fascination with the natural world, and I strive to ensure that every tour is both educational and inspiring. For me, guiding is more than a profession; it is an opportunity to connect people with the beauty, wonder, and conservation value of Bhutan’s natural treasures.
